Key responsibilities
  • Provide advice and guidance to line management as to how to undertake effective recruitment and selection of staff and assist in the interpretation of psychometric tests.
  • Provide advice and guidance to line management in dealing with staff issues such as performance management, discipline, grievance, absence management etc.
  • Be able to answer questions and/or queries raised regarding staff benefits ie life assurance, stakeholder pension scheme, private medical scheme.
  • Be prepared to provide training to line management (one to one or group) on how to manage staff issues.
  • Be prepared to become involved in project work such as carrying out due diligence on potential acquisitons by the company, dealing with letters from Solicitors on behalf of staff members or ex staff members, responding to and ongoing management of Employment Tribunal claims.
Skills required
  • Part or fully qualified member of the CIPD
  • Ideally you will have experience of working within a Human Resources Department within a commercial multi-sited organisation.
  • Must have excellent and up to date knowledge of employment law.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Accurate, numerate and able to organise yourself and others.
  • Self motivated, able to work under pressure whilst remaining calm and able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to use your own initiative to identify creative and commercial solutions to problems for consideration within the scope of your duties.
  • Business aware, have a good understanding of the requirements of and pressures faced by a business to be able to advise appropriately.
  • Confident, assertive and influential

  • Keyboard skills are essential as is the knowledge of and ability to use many different computerised systems ie HR system (Workforce), Payroll systems (Payrite), Microsoft office, internet and email systems etc.
