Connells helps homeowners with free EPC

Connells is delighted to announce it will be offering customers who use its home conveyancing service a free Energy Performance Certificate*worth almost £100 including VAT.
The move follows the suspension of Home Information Packs at the end of May and should help homeowners get their properties on the market with no upfront cost.
“Although a HIP is no longer needed by homeowners looking to sell their property, the Energy Performance Certificate or EPC, which was previously included in the HIP, is still required,” says Connells Regional Director Liz Brown. “EPCs must be commissioned before we can start marketing a property so our free EPC offer should help those looking to move to get their home on the market more quickly and with no initial outlays.
“The welcome decision to suspend HIPs by the new coalition Government removed a significant cost of moving for those looking to sell,” Liz continues. “Connells free EPC will go one step further and, we hope, will allay any uncertainty for those who wish to move home.”
The free EPC is available to anyone using Connells Home Conveyancing to complete their sale so customers will also benefit from Connells ‘No move no legal fee’ arrangement and its ‘fixed price guarantee’.
EPCs were introduced to help improve the energy efficiency of buildings and have been required whenever a home is being built, sold or rented out since October 2008. The EPC is part of a series of measures across Europe to help cut buildings carbon emission and tackle climate change.
