Homebuyers offered lifeline to help protect income

06 June 2011

Connells estate agency is today launching Income Protection Benefit which can be used to help homeowners should they be unable to work due to illness or injury that results in loss of earnings.

Based on Connells’ experience, many homeowners expect the State to replace their income if long-term ill-health stops them working. But with Employment & Support Allowance currently paying a maximum of just £99.85 per week for those who qualify, many would find it impossible to make ends meet.

“This new Income Protection Benefit provides a monthly payment up to age 70 or until you are able to return to work if sooner, for those who are unable to work due to long-term ill-health,” says Liz Brown, Regional Managing Director for Connells.

“Income Protection Benefit provides added peace of mind that if a person is unable to work for a period of time due to illness or injury, they could have a monthly payment which could be used to help with their living expenses – without having to rely on State benefits, for which customers may not be eligible anyway,” Liz continues.

The Connells plan is provided by leading insurer, Legal & General, the UK’s number one protection provider, based on new individual protection sales in 2009*.
