Land director celebrates 20 years at Connells
10 August 2011
Rob Price, one of Connells’ most experienced and successful land directors, celebrates 20 years at the leading estate agency group.
Rob has worked in the land and planning industry for 29 years, covering Hampshire, Berkshire, Surrey and Wiltshire. He was working in planning consultancy for Pearsons and then Prudential Property Services when Connells took over the division in the South of England in 1991.
In 2000, Rob specialised in land sales and since then he has progressed within the company to become one of the longest serving and most experienced members of the Connells Land and New Homes team. Over the past 10 years, he has acted for clients in the sale or acquisition of residential development land with a total land value of more than £161 million and generating in excess of 1600 new dwellings.
“I am delighted to be celebrating this milestone at Connells. I have established good relationships with many land owners, local companies, developers and house builders and I look forward to building on those relationships in the years to come,” says Rob Price.
Connells land and new homes operation is based at 14 land offices throughout the Midlands and South of England, and is now one of the key players in the industry.
The estate agency group has an established team of land directors, who have over 180 year’s combined experience of working within this sector. The company has a long-term commitment to this part of the business and continues to invest in its land and planning division. Over the past year, Connells has appointed a number of new land operators covering the West Midlands, Suffolk, Essex, Birmingham, Staffordshire, Herefordshire and Bristol.
Since the start of the year, Connells has seen improved market conditions in both the second-hand and new homes sectors, with a significant shift in the sale of new homes with sales up 44 per cent in quarter two of this year, when compared to the same period last year. Second-home sales were up 9 per cent in June when compared to the same period in 2010, giving a strong indication that the housing market is improving and there are committed buyers looking to purchase.
With this greater interest from buyers wanting to purchase a new home and with sales increasing, many house builders with funding are looking to purchase residential development land. “Whilst land values are still down from the levels being achieved prior to the recession the number of land deals taking place is definitely increasing. With significantly less land coming forward through the planning system, sites with consent, particularly those incorporating houses, are sought after and are selling at a premium,” says Rob Price.
