Increasing numbers looking to move in 2010
12 February 2010
The number of people looking to move home in 2010 is on the up according to Connells.
The estate agency recorded a six per cent increase in individuals registering at its branches in January 2010 when compared to the same period last year. Good news for anyone looking to sell, the figures show that even with the bad weather at the start of the year, buyers are returning to the housing market in their droves.
“We’ve seen a marked improvement in the housing market since the start of the year, not least because of the high level of demand we are getting from buyers,” says Tim Wardley, Divisional Managing Director for Connells. “More registrations in branches is translating into more viewings for sellers which ultimately means there is more competition over the homes available.”
Further figures from Connells suggest that people choosing to market their property at the current time are in a strong position to achieve a good price and quick sale as the average number of properties on the market with each branch has decreased by more than five per cent. This means that homes are, at present, highly sought after and more likely to achieve a higher price as demand outstrips supply.
“There is always a rush in spring from sellers looking to get their property on the market for the annual busy period from March onwards,” continues Tim. We need more properties to meet increasing demand so now is a great time to sell.”
