Suspension of HIPs good news for housing market
20 May 2010
Estate agent Connells welcomes the Government’s recent decision to suspend the requirement for homeowners to provide a Home Information Pack (HIP) when selling their property.
The announcement made by Communities Secretary Eric Pickles and Housing Minister Grant Shapps should have a positive effect on the housing market, as those looking to sell their property will no longer have to worry about the cost and hassle of a HIP when marketing their home.
Chief executive Stuart Flavell says, “This quick decision to suspend HIPs by the new coalition Government is good news. It should encourage more tentative sellers to return to the market and will enable vendors to commence the marketing of their home almost straight away.”
An Energy Performance Certificate is still required by homeowners who sell their property, and if a certificate is not already in place, homeowners must commission one before they can market their home.
