Housing market springs into action

20 April 2018

Connells records annual uplift in market activity at spring time

Local estate agency Connells is pleased to report that they have seen a surge in buyer activity, with buyers significantly outnumbering sellers.

Across its network, Connells saw applicant levels increase by 11 per cent in March compared to the previous month* and currently has 10 buyers registered for each new property coming onto the market.**     Connells expects this momentum to continue as spring is traditionally one of the busiest times of the year for house hunting, when people shake off the cobwebs of winter and buyer appetite increases.

“We almost always see a rush of buyers entering the market in springtime and this year is no exception with buyers coming to the market with confidence,” says David Plumtree, Connells Group Estate Agency Chief Executive.  “With spring finally in the air, it seems that many feel inspired to make plans for the future and this includes looking for a new home.

“With fewer homes on the market, we are reaching a point where there are just not enough properties to meet demand” continues David.  “For those that have been thinking of moving, this is good news as sellers are in a strong position to achieve a quick sale and the best price.  With heightened competition for properties and, as long as properties are priced correctly, there should be little problem in finding a buyer.”
