Shared Ownership
Sometimes known as ‘Part Rent, Part Buy’, Shared Ownership is a home ownership scheme that many housing associations offer. It allows you to buy a share of a property, subject to affordability and eligibility, and pay rent on the remainder.

The more of the property you own, the less rent you pay. You can increase your shares over time, known as “staircasing”, and on most leases where there aren’t any restrictions, you can work your way up to 100% ownership.

To qualify for shared ownership, you must:

• Be at least 18 years old
• Have an annual combined household income of less than £80,000 (£90,000 if you live in London)
• Be a first-time buyer or unable to afford a property that suits your needs on the open market
• Prove that you’re not in mortgage or rent arrears
• Demonstrate a good credit history with no County Court Judgments (CCJs)
• Be able to afford your mortgage repayments and rent

Location
Wellingborough is a town in the south east corner of Northamptonshire which offers a relaxed, market-town atmosphere surrounded by beautiful open countryside. The town is home to a variety of pubs, bars and restaurants as well as shops.

The Swansgate Centre shopping mall in the town centre, for example, hosts many well-known high street stores including Boots, Superdrug and Wilkinsons.
